Video & audio recordings

I gave a talk titled “Data, kebabs and town planning” at the Open Data Institute’s “Scaling Smart, Open Cities” event on 20th April. The talk explored the challenges I try to address in my work, and a series of example projects. I also describe the non-commercial collaboration that I chair in Birmingham, the “Smart City Alliance“, and its role in providing support to good “bottom-up” innovation ideas. The presentation that accompanied my talk can be downloaded here.

My talk “Metal, tarmac and data: how to build Smart Cities as if people mattered” at Cybersalon’s “Unsmart Cities” event in February gives a good idea of how I put into practise the ideas I write about on this blog, in my work for Amey and IBM; and personally in Birmingham where I live. The whole 2 hour event was filmed, including a fascinating and rather heated panel discussion with the audience.
